In the heart of southern Florida, The Little Red School House was conceived and built by a concerned and enterprising father, Richard Terry. Instinctively, wanting the best possible life for his two young children, he had a unique vision for transforming an old warehouse into a thriving Montessori school. So began Richard’s life mission to design and build dream spaces.
Who would have thought this driving business owner ever lacked focus? As a University of Miami graduate and Army veteran, he once preferred to while away time with his friends on the Colorado ski slopes. And then one day, he was forced to move in with his parents in Key Largo, FL.
Surrounded by dozens of neighbors with swimming pools and nagging maintenance issues, Richard’s innate customer service expertise sprung into action. He immediately recognized the value of a brand-new breakthrough product, Chlorine Genie, and was impressed by the quality, timesaving, and health benefits for homeowners. Richard’s passion was ignited and very quickly he launched a pool maintenance business with 450 clients and 18 employees. Quickly the business grew to include pool design and construction.
Eventually, his family ties prompted a move to St. Louis, MO, where swimming pools are rare. After selling his Florida business, Richard was challenged to reinvent himself. Tapping into his spatial abilities and his desire for improving the quality of life for others, he founded Accolade Kitchen & Bath in 2006. Since then, he has been helping families fall in love with their homes again—transforming old, outdated kitchens and bathrooms into “Culinary Design Centers” and “Spa-Like Retreats”.
