As a new homeowner, I couldn’t imagine past my small, dingy out-dated kitchen to its potential for becoming the heart of my home. I was concerned about finding a contractor who would pay attention to detail and to provide quality work. After checking references and talking to my realtor, I had no reservations about hiring Richard Terry of Accolade Kitchen & Bath for the project. In my 40 year old home, I wanted something classic that would last but there were three major challenges that we had to overcome to complete my remodeling project.
- Exposed 8″ HVAC ductwork and heating and cooling the second floor.
- Unsafe Gas Range location that had no landing zone on the right side
- Outdated Flooring
New 12″ Utility Cabinet
By installing a Mitsubishi ductless HVAC unit for the second floor, they solved the heating and cooling problem. By removing the ductwork allowed them to install a 12″ wide utility storage cabinet.
Landing Zones on both sides
Moving the sink to the corner allowed extra space on either side on the gas range. Then they were able to give me more storage space by adding a 3 drawer base to the right of the stove.
Herring Bone Pattern
I chose a dark grey, 6″x24″ wood grain, ceramic tile for my kitchen floor and it was Richard’s idea to lay the flooring in a”herring bone ” pattern. When people come to visit it’s the first thing people notice and comment on.
Their attention to detail was superb as they created an open kitchen and dining design in the new kitchens’s footprint. The best thing about working with Richard, was the fact that he always kept me in the loop, I never wondered about the progress, problems or challenges throughout the entire renovation.
I was particular happy about the fact that when the job was done, the kitchen was move-in ready with wisely chosen storage options, ensuring that there was a place for everything. Richard took a vague idea of what I liked and turned it into my dream kitchen. I would recommend Accolade Kitchen & Bath to anyone looking for a remodeler that they can depend on to deliver a high end product at a fair price.
